Heavy Boolit Load for 7.35 Carcano

Just doing a follow up. A lot has changed on my Carcano in two years. I’ve modified the stock and shortened the barrel, plus I added a ramp front sight.

Nice looking rifle. I bet it handles well too. My modifying days are behind me now (at 84+ yrs.) but I like what you have done to that rifle. james

Since several of you have suggested using data from the 30-30 and 300 Savage as a starting load, it crossed my mind to use the 6.5 Carcano 140 and 150 loads as a starting place. Same case, bigger bore, same weight bullets…. Lower pressure?

I have wondered if a boolit designed for paper patching to standard .308 groove30 cal would work well with the Carcano. I have a single cavity iron NEI copy of the NRA style PP 178grainer. It has vestigal grooves for easier patching and might tumble lube or better yet, powder coat for use in the .300ish groove size. Mine has a slight bevel base. I really need to patch some up for the 308 and '06.
