Wife Made Raspberry Jam Yesterday and 357 Mag Brass Came To The Rescue

Berries in season so the wife picked a few quarts to make jam. Forgot the metal frame to set the jars on for the hot water bath. I brought out some cleaned 357 Mag Brass, lined the bottom of the pot and set the jars on top. Worked like a charm.

For anyone that has a water-bath canner , that needs a bottom rack and doesn't wish to use/ have enough brass cases ...
Use a Stainless Steel Pizza Cooking Screen ...
Mine cane from Factory Supply - Domestic Pizza Screen . Look em up on the interweb .
They come in 6 different sizes from 6" to 22" . Pick the size that fits the inside bottom or your pot ... the jars sit level and evenly on the flat screen surface ...
It's the best thing I have found for use in a water-bath canner...
and you get your brass back for reloading !

Great idea! However, we were 5 miles back in the woods and 15 miles from a town which doesn't sell that stuff.

44 Special brass would probably work better.
Spell check doesn't work in Chrome, so if something is spelled wrong, it's just a typo that I missed.

My wife just made some cherry jam……delicious on a fresh buttermilk biscuit….with butter of course! How did your wife’s raspberry taste?
