9mm Luger brass fired in what?

Probably fired in a Luger. Georg Luger patented the stepped chamber in 1910 and German army Lugers used it until sealing issues with steel case ammo became apparent in 1941-1942. I reload for and regularly shoot a 1916 DWM production P08 which leaves fired casings distinctly marked and have never felt the need to segregate casings fired in it. They function perfectly in several other of my 9x19 Parabellum chambered firearms.

Range opened after long refurbish. Had to check it out, very nice setup good RSO on duty. I policed my brass and a bunch more a veritable gold mine and the range was empty! Zip lock bag full mostly 9mm with a few odd pieces 40 sw 380 then noticed something different win 9mm luger headstamp with line down .125 at the mouth, body measured .392 - .394 weird crimp maybe or shot in something not 9x19 ? Looks like maybe a full box was shot & left all going into the scrap box. Any thoughts?

Looks like brass out of an HK P7. No fan of HK weapons in general as they are brass manglers.

I wonder exactly how much variation that there is in 9x19 cases. Also remember there is an italian military loading that externally similar to the 9x19 luger parabellum.

The Glisenti 9mm pistol that was issued in the WW1 era and did serve on afterwards for a spell. Identical to the german 9x19 of the day except loaded weaker as the pistol would be damaged with the hotter german cartridge. American arms makers made the Glisenti loading for Italy in WW1. I had a handfull of these truncated cone bulleted 9mm's marked on the base "MAXIM 1915". Also used in the italian villa perosa twin blowback subgun set up.

I went back and read the thread and also the link by steve.
It does keep the gun cleaner I saw mentioned more than once. With corrosive priming from about WWI that does seem like a good idea. For reloading range ammo the cases should be fine. I would not use such brass for loads in an astra 600 9mm pistol because it is straight blow back. Likely ok, but no reason to do so since 9mm brass is not difficult to find.
