    RCBS 1500 problems

Friend email that his Chargemaster is not working.
I've never used one, so I'm not much help.
He said that when he pushes the start button, the read out goes to "O".
I'm guessing it's not suppose to do that.
He said it's way out of warranty.
    Any suggestions????

I use an old AMT autoscale.
    Don't trust computer scales.

He should give RCBS a call, I’ve used their customer service a couple of times. I’m sure they will be happy to help. I have a Chargemaster Lite but I’ve never had any issues with it. There is probably a good bit of information online also. I know when I forgot how to calibrate my unit I found instructions online.

Seconded, I've had nothing but good interactions with RCBS.

RCBS electronics warranty is stated as One year. Vs their lifetime on standard devices

Feel free to call and check with them, but do not be upset or disappointed if they decline to help.

I’ll concur, I’ve had amazing experience with RCBS from Customer Service/Support and warranty, but they don’t always work miracles on everything for everyone.

I thought it was a 1500, but it is a Chargemaster Lite.
He had some clumpy powder, and that could have damaged something.
He cleaned it out and got this problem.
I'll email RCBS and see what they say.

So he said he calibrated it, then loaded the powder, set his charge, and pushed the go button.
    Nothing.
    Read out goes to 0.00.
    I'm thinking a computer problem.

So he brought it over today.
He had pulled out the feed tube, and the seal fell off.
Couldn't get the tube to come off again, so had to take it apart.
    No warranty, so no loss.
From the way it was made, it doesn't look like he should have taken the tube out.
Had a heck of a time undoing what he did.
Took it all apart, cleaned it up, checked the wires, solder joints, board, and found nothing I could see bad.
Checked the wiring for the load cell, cleaned it up some, could find nothing broken, but wouldn't know if anything was anyway.
Put everything back together as is..
The tube was tight coming out and going back in.
Should have polished it for a smoother fit, but decided to just leave it as it came out.
"if it's not broke, don't fix it"
Put it all back together and tested it.
    Eureka! It works!!!
Got some powder out and tested it, and it's working as it should!!!!
I'm sure it wasn't anything I did, but it's working now.
For how long, I have no idea.
    Sometimes you just get lucky.
