seating die as crimp die?

I seat and crimp at the same time with roll crimp seating dies.
You need to feel the crimp when it is happening.
That won`t happen on a progressive machine.

Now I'm looking for a seating die for .38 Super. It doesn't appear to be offered by Lee. So that leqds me to two questions.

Can I use a .38 spl or 9mm luger die to seat the bullet, then pust the .38 Super seater die in the crimp station?

Or... what's the secret to knocking out the carbide ring in an FCD? I remember trying once long ago and it never budged.

Yes you can, many do. For me, I like to seat and crimp in separate steps with cast bullets to avoid lead shaving and with jacketed, doing it as a single step works fine.

.38 Super is a little longer than 9mm Luger/Parabellum, but still quite a bit shorter than .38 Special, so I’d go with the 9mm seating die. It uses the same diameter bullets as 9mm as well, so your seating punches, and the die body will work just fine.
