Late model Ruger SP-101 .38 Special?

I have a Lee 158 SWC mold that I cut the gas check shank off, weighs 140 grains. I probably use that bullet more than any I have. It works great in my 638, takes a little off the recoil. A +P 38 spcl load in a standard revolver is all I want. I'll load them in my 605 but not the 638.

I also have a 2 3/4" Service Six 357 that belonged to my Father, I turned it into a round but for him years ago. Nice to belt carry but a pocket gun it ain't, usually carry it in a pancake holster.

The 101 is a nice revolver, I have shot one in 357 with full loads. It was more than I cared for, 38's if you please.

Yep, I have the exact same mold you do! Mine drops 'em around 143 grains and they shoot well, just haven't had the opportunity to really do a deep dive with them so far. What loads do you like with it?

for me the 101 is good but like stated the trigger. the one in the 327 is bad . Worst then the 357 both in 4" . I took both to my gunsmith and had it slick them up and change the springs because of the problem I have with my hand. After he was done with both . I can shoot them fast then the semi auto and easy on follow up shots . I love them .

The trigger on my SP is on the heavy side but very smooth and consistent. I can shoot it as well as any of my other handguns so I'm content to just let it break in over many rounds as my Service Six did. I do put a reduced power trigger spring in my Taurus revolvers, they are just too darn heavy. That done, they shoot great.

I gave the SP-101 some exercise yesterday and now I'm grouping like 3 inches high at 15 yards. It's probably just me having an off day, but how tall is the front sight on an SP-101 typically? Mine measures .110, which seems really short. I've never modified it, seems like I remember the front sight of the 1990's one I had was too tall by quite a bit. I found a new one on Fleabay for cheap and it looks taller in the pictures, so I ordered it to see if there is any difference.
