So a few weeks ago I scored a large box of PPU 8x56 brass and 30 7,62x54 fire formed to 8x56 from a great member here. I found in all places a new set of RCBS 8x50 austrian dies on walmart.com for $89.95 !!. So yesterday I got around to running the russki and 40 PPU cases through the RCBS sizer die. I then set up my old south bend lathe to cut each case exactly 2.061" . I got this OAL dimension from measuring original unfired 1891 dated cases. I then deburred , polished necks , then annealed . I utilized some surplus turk sS patronen ( 196 gn ) .323" bullets . These turk rounds had approx 43 gns of german type flake powder. I used 34 gns in the 8x50 with turk bullet. Recoil about that of a 30/30. No gas blowback , clean easy extraction . Gotta make time to see how accurate the load is in my 1888 Mannlicher - it's not an 88/90 but a straight 88 model with no updates. brass1.jpgBrass2.jpgBrass3.jpgBrass4.jpgBrass5.jpg
