I made some ladder loads to test with my TC G2 Contender rifle 24” barrel using Blue Dot powder, Lee 357-200-RF gc (208gr my alloy) and CCI-350 LPP 5-shot groups at 50 yds. The results are noted in the pictures above:
L1. 12.5gr Blue Dot, 1453 fps
L2. 13.0gr Blue dot, 1520 fps
L3. 13.5gr Blue dot, 1567 fps
L4. 14.0gr Blue dot, 1605 fps
L5. 14.5gr Blue dot, 1643 fps (best)
L10. 13.5gr Blue dot, 1566 fps (3-shot)
There were no signs of pressure from primer observation in my rifle and no signs of leading inside the barrel. L5 has 4-shot ragged hole and last round I pull it a little; but even so, the group was 0.67”. I think I will leave it right there.
Other thing to note: the rifle was zeroed at 100 yds with 180gr xtp bullets and these 208gr cast loads were aimed with the 3rd notch (400yd) below the main cross-hair of my scope.
I think I will dedicate this barrel for cast boolits only with the occasional xtp jacketed bullets.
I like to give credit to the one that post the 12.4gr blue dot load in this thread; as I use it as my starting point ladder loads.
