What mold for CZ-75?

I use the Lee 38-125-RF. Most, including me use it in sixguns but I find it the perfect bullet for the CZ75. I size them .358 & seat according to plunk test. Never a failure to feed in this pistol.

Hmm, I use that bullet a LOT for Cowboy Action in 38Spl, never tried it in any of my CZs, might have to give it a whirl.

The most accurate mold I've used is the RCBS 9MM-124-CN.
If it were a 6-cavity mold, I'd use it on all my 9mm pistols.
I've bought a second one with two cavities, and I use both molds simultaneously. Unfortunately, I can't reach the speed of the 8-cavity mold, so I use the 8-cavity molds for training and the RCBS molds for competition.

The Lee 125-RNFP has long been a favorite of mine in 38/357. I got it to work in my CZ’s by seating it deeply. I can get it to shoot OK, but I get key holing sometimes. It seems to get worse when I use higher powder charges. I just ordered the Lee 120 TC mold, and hope that will work. Interestingly, I’ve shot the Lee 102 grain Lee bullet with a variety of powders and charge weights and it has worked great. With that bullet I’ve found a load of 3.5 grains of W244. It’s super accurate, feels like shooting 22LR, but is smoky as sin with my Tac-X lube.

I can't get a CZ75 in Commiefornia because it's not on their list of approved handguns, plus it holds more than 10 rounds. After I move out of this dumpster fire a CZ75 will be one of the first firearms that I acquire. In the meantime, the cast load that I've had the best reliability with in 9mm has been the 120 grain Lyman #356402. This conical nosed bullet finds it's way easily into the chamber, and works well in all the various pistols that my family members use. I load it, powder coated and sized .356", over a 4.0 grain charge of Winchester 244. The only downside I have to using this bullet is that my mold is an older Ideal single cavity, so it takes a small fraction of forever to cast up a pile of bullets.

I love 1911s, but must say a CZ 75 feels like an extension of my hand. Shooting one, it just feels so natural.

I lived in California for 27 years, and do not miss it. Here in Georgia I go to a public range, at Sunrise, and usually have the place all to myself for about 2 hours. The annual cost to me is maintaining a hunting license, or about $18.

I just got back into shooting Steel Challenge and USPSA pistol matches about two months ago.

This is after about a 14 year hiatus.

I had bought 4 of the MP moulds (Mi-Hec moulds???) 15 or 16 years ago.

One of the moulds was a mistake on my part. I bought the brass .359 mould meant for .38 Special.

CZ's are known for their extremely small lead so disregard any OAL in the manuals and find out what fits your pistol using the plunk test. I brought my new CZ75 to the range and used my standard 9mm load that works in all of my pistols. Dropped the slide for the first shot and it locked up. Had to remove the slide and tap the bullet out then I tried again and it locked up too (not fun). Luckily I could seat the bullet shorter with only a slight increase in velocity. With my pistol you need to seat the bullets so there is only a tiny sliver of the driving band showing.

I shoot the Lee 356-120-TC (with the standard lube grooves) and have to seat to 1.040 for reliable function. While a OAL of 1.050 fits some brands of cases have thicker walls and will seat longer locking it up again.

I guess I must have lucked out then.

I have a total of 4 CZs now:

1. Matte stainless CZ75 ( 9mm )
2. SPO1 (9mm)
3. A black CZ75 in .40S&W
4. Czechmate (9mm)

And using J-word bullets, mostly Hornadys, I have been seating bullets out to 1.15 .

This is mainly for the Beretta 92s that I compete with .

Those same reloads never had an issue feeding in my three 9mm CZ75s .

No stuck bullets.

No setting or pushing bullets further back in the cases.

They all went bang, 100%.

I really, REALLY didnt want to have like two main groups of 9mm ammo, one for the Berettas and one for the CZs.

I've been using the Lee 124gr TL 356 for decades in a plethora of CZ pistols. Works great loaded to 1.095-1.1.

Currently, I loading the Accurate 35-124M, an RNFP PC'd and sized to .357. Boolit shoots quite well in all my 9s...CZ, SIG, and Browning...without any feed issues. Before obtaining this mold, I was getting pretty good performance from the Lee 120 TC but got tired of repairing that old style, 2-cavity mold: loose sprue plate, alignment pins falling out, sloppy all-around fit on handles, etc. With the 4-cavity Accurate, I can crank out 500-600 boolits on a rainy afternoon without a mutter of foul language.

My Lee mould and handles arrived the other day.

My first Lee mould ….or rather my first aluminum mould was a Lee buckshot mould.

I bought one of those Milwaukee IR laser temperature guns about a month ago.

It will be interesting to see what temperature this mould likes to run at.

I’m working nights this week. Tonight. And then again Thursday night. And then I am off on vacation. There are two separate ranges holding USPSA pistol matches on Saturday morning.

But it is supposed to be hot again here in the St. Louis metro area. With a 45% chance of rain.

So speaking of rainy days….I think I would rather get this new mould up and running instead of shooting a match.

I think that would be a better use of my time.

The last match I shot…the heat/humidity dang near killed me.

I wish I had kept my Lyman truncated cone 9mm mould. It had the traditional lube groove. And at the time, I could not get my Star lubri-sizer dialed in. I had the heated base for it and the pneumatic plunger. I could walk away for 5 minutes. The akrobin that was placed under the Star to catch the freshly lubed boolits would be filled with what looked like pink or red spaghetti noodles.

Then powder coating busted onto the scene.

That was probably about 15 years ago.

I sold all my Lyman moulds and my Star here on the forum. In my ad for the Star, I was explicit about how there must be something wrong with it. The moulds and the Star sold fast. And I never heard a bad word from the buyer of the Star. Maybe he fixed it? Or maybe he wasn’t as “ham handed” like I was???

I bought the powder coating gun from Harbor Freight.

But I started a new job that entailed rotating shifts, nights and weekends. So I wasn’t shooting matches any more.

Then somebody figured out the shake and bake method of applying the PC.

Hindsight being 20/20, I wish I had kept the Star now, and then got the bullet feeder for it.

That bullet feeder would come in handy now for just sizing the boolits, without lube, annd then PC’ing them.

I have the Lee sizing dies now. I plan on threading those into the top of my single stage Rock Chucker.

After a good bit of trial & error with the pesky 9mm Luger in 4 different handguns , one being a CZ , the boolit of choice is a 124 gr. Truncated Cone design by NOE , with a gas check . I drive them to 1000 + fps and use a softish alloy that will mushroom a bit ... I don't powder coat but have a huge supply of gas checks . I just use my Lyman 450 lube/sizer and Lithi-Bee boolit lube ... works like a Magic Charm !

If you want a plain base boolit the Lee 358-120-TC , a 120 gr. Truncated Cone boolit worked well also in all 4 pistol's .

The 4 different 9mm's all fed , fired and extracted both of these boolits ... like they were made for them !

I made 5 dummy rounds tonight. Their OAL’s were about
1.097”.

They all dropped right into and right out of the Dillon case gauge:

Then I hand cycled them through a matte stainless CZ-75 and an SP-01.

They all went into battery okay. No jams.

And the ejected dummy rounds looked just fine.
