Preparing for my Annual July 4th Cookout and Muzzleblast Day.

This year marks America's 250th birthday. I live on a hilly 60 acre farm on a dirt road 5 miles out of a small town. I have 6 ranges, no close neighbors and several fellow veteran friends who live in town. Annually, we make July 4th a family day event with a cookout, a fun shoot of BP guns and then sitting around the campfire cleaning guns and tossing soiled patches into the fire ring. I got a deal on a few cans of Goex 2F and 3F recently. All we need is a sunny day on July 4th. Be safe as you celebrate.

Sounds like my kind of day! I just finished an "Old Ironsides" cannon kit that I'm gonna shoot. I live in town, so I won't shoot a ball out of it, but i'm gonna pack it tight so it will be as loud as possible. Think I'm gonna cook a butt and have pulled pork, collards, tater salad, beans, homemade peppermint ice cream. This is 'spose to be a "biggie!'

    badwolf and T-Bird,

Thanks for the replies. My farm is half wooded hills and half open hayfields. Right behind the house is a wooded hill about 100 yards beyond the campfire ring and picnic tables. I have a few gongs on chains at 25, 50 and 100 yards, painted white and fun for all. Paper targets are not as much fun and labor intensive. On July 4th we muzzleblasters "make music" all day long. It is "Boom" and "Clang." Be well.

    Guys,

Happy July 4th. I just finished bushogging the 2-acre backyard field for the picnic area and trap shoot with BP smoothbores. I pray for a sunny day so we can celebrate the 250th anniversary of America. I need to weed eat the area around the firepit for top level chats as the sun goes down on the 4th. Be well.

    beemer,

I agree about BP smoke. We shoot flintlocks and caplocks all day long. Gongs are very popular and the "music" tells of a hit. Happy 4th.
