[Super Sneaky Steve]

Today I took my 7 and 9 year old to the range. I wanted to do something fun and that would be easy for them to handle. My old CVA Optima 50cal pistol was just the trick.

30gr of screened powder under a .490 ball and a lubed patch shot accurately and didn't kick at all. The lubed patch cleaned the bore each loading so we were able to shoot 30+ rounds with no problems.

I put a cheap red dot on top and fired from maybe 15 yards to a zombie poster.

When we were done it was easy to clean so dad (me) didn't have to spend hours breaking down and cleaning up a gun.

Anyone with kids should buy one of these little pistols.

Sounds like great fun. I know my 11-year-old granddaughter is my Shooting Buddy she’ll shoot anything I have from a 30-06, my 12 gauge, 1911 in 45! you name it she’ll shoot it. Oh and don’t tell my son I said so, but she’s a better shot than he hope to be lol. I suspected no time at all should be a better shot than her Poppy is. Unfortunately, since my legs quit working, and I have been able to take it to the range this year, but I’m working on it! She has absolutely no fear of anything as a matter of fact she told me don’t worry Poppy if you drive us to the range and you can’t drive anymore I’ll drive us home! And she wasn’t kidding lol. 30 years ago I’ll probably let her put in today’s day and age that had me in jail for child. Abuse if I even sat behind the steering wheel, let alone let her drive.

Well done, introducing young'uns to muzzleloaders. Here on the farm, we often have backyard cookouts for the clan. In late afternoon, firing flintlocks and caplocks is dramatic. We then sit around the campfire as proper BP cleaning occurs. What state are you in?

Hey Adam. We are in Howell Michigan. My shooting club is in Fenton. The kids love shooting but their mom is very resistant.

I've got a lot of rifles I'd like them to shoot but the length of pull is a little long for my smallest son. They do better with low recoiling pistols for now.

I have three granddaughters and four grandsons. Only one granddaughter and two grandsons are shooters.
