40-50 sbn

In previous threads I discussed my adventure with making ammo for my Shiloh Sharps Military Carbine chambered for the 40-50 SBN. I have 18 pieces of W.W. fire formed brass and after cleaning and prepping I was very happy with how perfectly everything fit and required no additional fussing. A full 50 grs. of O.E. 2f compressed enough to allow the cartridge with a Paper Patched 330 gr. boolit, wad to fully seat without sticking the boolit in the bore. That accomplished it was time to put the new M.V.A. front tang base and rear sight on I’m really ready for the range to really start wringing this rifle out.

You're going to love that caliber. Sharps bottlenecks with PP is sexy as socks on a rooster! I noted in one of you're previous posts that you didn't have much luck using the Hornady short brass..... I thought that a bit odd as I've used that just about exclusively for years. The only thing I can imagine is that your rifle is current production and mine is a Farmer and the there might be some chamber differences with the rim depth. I haven't had any issues with reformed WW or Starline though, if you have any theories, I'm interested.

Jeff I suspect that when the Bryans took the reins Kirk to his credit tightened all aspects of what they ( Shiloh ) were producing and holding achievable tolerances consistently. Having two Bryan Shilohs chambered in 45-70 15 years apart and all ammo made for either makes no difference which rifle the 74 or the 77. I’m finding once past the chamber into the 1:16 ROT rifling the bore dimensions are the same as my Shiloh 40-70 SS made in 2008 as the new the new 40-50 SBN Military Carbine,barrel many components I have for the 40-70 SS fit and only paper patch bullets for the SBN.

Hmmmmm, quite possible. The Shiloh's (Bryan) are nothing if not consistent. I have three 45-2.4 made over a span of 12 years and they all accept fired cases from the others without resizing. Pretty handy actually since I don't resize very often and I don't have to segregate.
