The GOOD news is, I just MAY have enough to last me until I'm eligible for Social(ist) (in)Security. The BAD news is, I'm 61.

I go back occasionally and reread this thread. Its sad to see that a lot of the earlier posters are no longer with us. I hope that their lead stashes made it to other casters.

But to keep this thread on track, I voted that I had enough to make it to the other side. Now I have more than enough!

The good thing is the Feds are going to improve our intra structure. One thing they are going to do is remove lead pipe still in use in a lot of municipalities. That lead pipe is dead soft. The joints are tin as it was used for all the joints. Tin has a lower melting point than lead. Good for us cast boolit shooters. Obama with his monarch edicts changed the EPA regs to put most of the lead smelters and mines out of business. We have plenty of lead underground. Just need to defund a lot of the government agencies that don't contribute to our Gross National Product. Open up lead mining and lead smeltering again. Maybe the price of batteries, fishin sinkers, and boolits will come down. My 1877 Colt Bulldog and 1878 Ten barrel Gatlings require plenty of lead. Will never have enough pb !!!!!

It would be my guess that most of the existing lead pipe will be abandoned and not removed. It would be nice to see all of that lead hit the market, so hopefully I'm wrong!

    I was just joking,

I have about 200 pounds that I have collected over the years. That is enough for about 7000 shots. Should get me through. Don't shoot as much as I used to. Just getting started casting boolits. I have an old Mauser I got from my grandfather. Chamber and barrel are out of spec, so I am learning about casting so I can "play" with it. I enjoy the discovery and learning of how things were done in the past.

I find myself in a position that i will need to liquidate close to 2000 pounds, due to the onset of some health issues. all indoor range lead from factory ammo.

My supply is miniscule, compared to those who use tons to tally. Still, I would outlive Methuselah's older brother before I got around to the last cast.

It's surprising how fast you go through it when you shoot only a box or two of ammo a week/every week.

Been casting for 56 years. Used to get wheel weights free from tire shops but no more. I’m down to my last 1200 lbs of ingots, but I should be good thanks to my latest purchase. Best $190 I’ve spent in a long time.

That looks like the bullet trap I purchased on eBay. Got it set up just before deer season but never tried it out as deer camp is the next property east of me.

Just curious what your % recovery is. I was hoping for about 75%.

    Yes.
Because I am 79 1/2 and I have about 1,000 pounds of lead.

Guessing recovery % would depend a lot of how good a shot you are.

I am curious how thick that steel "funnel" is? I have some 1/4" steel plate, and some iron pipe in my stash of left overs from various projects over the years.
