Replacement for LBT Blue Soft lube??

I've been using the LBT Blue Soft Lube(SBL), for a number of years. When I bought my only LBT mould, I bought a large quantity of the lube as well.

Since we all know LBT is no more, I'm looking for a similar lube.
Not "super hard" but hard enough that it needs a heater in my 450.

With them being an advertiser here, I have White Label Lube's site open in another tab. I'm not sure which of theirs, or someone else's, lube will be closest to my preferred, but no longer available LBT SBL.

I only cast for handguns :38/357, 45ACP, 44mag and 45/70 (technically a rifle round, but my only 45/70 is a 12" Contender barrel)

The lube I'm looking for isn't the Lyman(?) "Old black goop" lube popular in the 70s I want to be able to handle my lubed bullets without getting my fingers "gooped" but I don't want the super hard stuff you find on a lot of commercial cast bullets either.

From perusing their site, I THINK I want White Label's blue carnauba??

I'm ordering a bottle of their sprue lube and one of their 1/4 stick free samples of it.

And I'm sure I'm about to save someone some typing... I am not interested in making my own

All that being typed, is there someone familiar with the LBT SBL that has found a comparable replacement for it. If not, does anyone have any suggestions for a semi hard lube that can handle sub 1600fps loads in the above calibers?

I’m preparing an order to White Lube as well and had similar questions.

I don’t think their blue is what you want-if you’re looking for something ’harder than needs to be heated’. They state their blue is usable at room temp/doesn't require a heater. Their red is their equivalent that needs heat.


Also look at their Commercial 160, it also requires heat-but low enough heat that a Lyman heater will make it workable.

I've been using WLL's X-Lox 2500+ for rifle bullets about 3yrs, from 1500 - 2600fps no issues whatsoever. I get a nice lube star on the muzzle after 50 - 60 rds.

It's not a hard lube per se, but is not soft either. I use an RCBS lube sizer, if the lube sizer and lube are at room temp of around 70 I don't need to use the heater. The lube will feel a little tacky after application then "tack off" after sitting a week or so.

Been using White Label Lube 2500 for several years now on my 32 thru 50 caliber rifle bullets. Could not be happier. I used the WLL Blue prior to this, like the 2500 better. I run a heater at 80 degrees just so it flows a little easier in the Lubrisizer.

I've been using White Label lube for a couple of years now. I first used their carnauba red, and am currently using blue, no complaints with either, really.

That said, for about 15 years I used TAC-1, which was available on eBay. It was a green, beeswax-based lube and was a bit softer than White Label and I really like the stuff. I used the soft LBT lube a long time ago and I seem to remember it and TAC-1 being of similar consistency. BUT, the maker of TAC-1, randyrat, who is member here, stopped producing it a few years ago. Well, he is back making it. Here is a thread where he was offering it- WTS My TAC 1 cast boolit Lube 3 lbs

This is what it looks like-
I have an order for some bulk lube coming from him for 1 lb., which is the equivalent of about 11 sticks, for $20. That's less than $2 per stick! He states in his ad that he's only doing a few orders per month, so you might PM him and see if he'll add you to a list or if he'll sell you some.
