Uberti 1894 .30-30

My local fun store just got in a new Uberti 1894 .30-30 and I'm impressed. Top eject, no manual safety, half cock hammer. The open sights are actually useful and not just an afterthought. Wood and metal finish and parts fit seems really well done. Its stickered at $1200.00 which is still cheaper than every Miroku 94 I've seen in person and honestly this gun looks and feels nicer. I've come to accept the fact that I need to have a scope on my deer rifle so I won't be buying one (and probably going to sell my own 94), but I am very happy that we now have another option for this classic rifle.

According to the Taylor's website it is indeed 1:12. That is certainly a bonus over Marlin's 1:10.

I have a Cimaron 1894 made by uberti, with case hardened action and 26" octagonal barrel. Nice wood too. It is a copy of a pre 64 94 and works super slick, and shoots fantastic. I had to put a much taller front sight in as it shot 3 feet hi with the factory sight, set on the lowest notch on the elevator. With the taller sight on, it is dead on at 100 yds with the elevator set on the lowest notch. It has 8 notches and the Win 94 is set up for 50 yd increments, per notch. That would get me to 400 yds with the highest setting I thought. Wrong, it shot to point of aim at a measured 500 yds with the sight on the highest notch, using a Hornady 170 gr fp and 3031 loaded behind it. I made 6 hits in a row on 13" square plate at 500 yds in front of 5 witnesses. I gave $1000 for mine slightly used.

Have you had a good look at the bore? Always buy a gun by its bore. If it’s good, most everything else can be fixed, but not the bore, unless you want to change barrels.

I saw a new Cimarron 94 at a different store today for $1200.00. I don't know if Uberti makes it for Cimarron, but it was a very nice rifle. Definitely more so than the tired looking 1970's Winchester 94 next to it for not much less. This particular store has high sticker prices so I bet my usual shop would have been a fair amount cheaper.

So far, it looks like the Italian 94's just keep getting more popular as time goes on. The only new Winchester 94 in stock locally that I know of has been there for years and has rack wear, for a much higher price of course.

Not sure if Uberti makes the '94. I picked up a '92 in 44-40 from Taylor's recently and it was made by Chiappa.

The Cimarron 1894 is indeed made by Uberti.
I have the Cimarron exclusive, deluxe 1894 in 38-55. Well made and accurate. If seems to be a faithful copy of the pre 64 Winchester. The one and only thing that I didn't like was the inertia firing pin. I replaced it with a firing pin from Midway USA and deleted the firing pin return spring.

Definitely the way to go. I have one on my 1957 Model 94 30-30.
All the new Uberti firearms are quality pieces, but I just don't see the reason to buy their 94 copy when I can find a nice original Winchester 94 for nearly half the price. Now... when it comes to their Colt 1873 SSA clones, that I can understand, they being far more affordable than the real deal.
