Question about cast bullet lubing and sizing to .358

Hello all.

I have been reloading for many years using commercial sized and lubed bullets. I recently acquired a quantity of wadcutter casts measuring .360.

I was looking at the Midway site and see a Lee sizer die (Lee's product #90048) and Lee liquid Alox.

The video I watched seems pretty strait forward regarding resizing to .358. My question is related to lubing.

1. Is the Lee liquid Alox the right product to use?

2. How long will the lubed remain functional on the boolits before I reload them?

3. Will the lube last as long as the commercially lubed bullets? I have some that I purchased years ago that are just fine. I don't know what they used to lube and they no longer sell their product. They got so big you can't even speak with the husband and wife owners of the gun shop. I just hate when that happens. They gave up on selling reloading supplies, products that made their business.

4. How many boolits should a 4 oz bottle of the Alox lube coat?

an alternative to Lee's alox is a derivative that goes by the name of Ben's Liquid Lube. or BLL. I've never used it but everyone on the board here has given positive feedback on it. you can buy it ready to use from White Label Lubes and they stock it under the listing of 45-45-10 tumble lube. really good people to deal with too. I can't answer for the longevity of the lubes you have listed, but they can. good luck.

4 - Thousands. Most people make the mistake of using too much liquid Alox, if the bullets have no more than a faint golden sheen, barely visible, there's enough lube. Most of us mix it with mineral spirits and Lundmark liquid floor wax, in a ratio of 45-45-10. It's easiest to just buy it from White Label Lubes.

Thin coats of LLA , Lee Liquid Alox , dry better than thicker coats of the stuff straight out the bottle ... Thin the LLA with Mineral Spirits to a Maple Syrup consistency ...
Follow directions fo Tumble Lubing and let them dry ... you want a light golden sheen that dries ... you don't need much and if they stay sticky ... a light dusting with Motor Mica , Talcum Powder , Baby Powder or Corn Starch ... will get rid of the stickiness . Stand boolits on their base on wax paper to dry .
Tumbling lube works well once you get alox thickness and drying worked out and the sticky boolit thing resolved .
