Running low on primers

Eley primers are not active until you add a drop of water to them, when they are assembled. You then let them dry and use them. Other compounds arent eley but you should not make more than 30 grains at a time. 30 grains will make alot. Its time consuming at first but its not when you learn. Its like anything else in the casting/ reloading world, you learn and you get better. The only thing i would caution is to be clean...some components are nasty. At 35 per k i would buy them. But its a good skill to have in a shortage, at least for pistol stuff, bp and the sort...precision shooting i dont know..

while prices are $0.04 each or less for certain small rifle and small pistol primers, I'm talking myself into "one can never have too many primers" they may never get less expensive $200 for 5000

When I first started reloading, primers were 69 cents per 100 and I could bring my own can to the Country Store and get 4831 at 67 cents per lb. In 1 lb cans it was about $2.75 a lb. I think I was making about $1.75 an hour then.

I’m interested in caps for BP guns. They are the ones that are the most expensive here.

I like getting primers by the hundreds. 209s are available that way at some places and the others on gunbroker. I find it is a great way to buy, economical and the way I shoot them 500 can last a long long time. Now with prices down it will be fun and games to buy them. But I still have quite a few left. Make no mistake about it buy wisely.
