I'm shooting for 2500 fps but would like 26/2700 since this is my hunting gun

Lake, don't despair if you don't make that 26-2700 fps range. I hunt with a 95 Win in .30-40, 200 grain bullet at .2400fps and it surely makes deer and antelope drop lwhere they stand.

To be honest, I'm ok with 24/2500.
I'm told where I live I need to be prepared to take 300 yard shots. At this point I'm just trying to see where the limits are with my capabilities of doing this.

Id love to have a 4" group at 300 yards with my 170 grain ranch dog bullets

I don't know where you live but as I live in western North Dakota and have yet to shoot anything but a prairie dog at over 200, I would not worry about trying to make a 300 yard shot with cast. I have been working on a load for long range lever action matches that go out to 600 yards. I am gaining on it but not there yet.

I personally feel like 300 is a stretch for where I live but the journey to get there( accuracy wise) is kinda fun.

Where I may get an elk tag, the veterans of that area told me to get comfy at 300 " Justin case " ��
