    Which KAL mold for Volunteer rifle?

    I have an early P-H Volunteer rifle .451 on the way, now that our postal strike is sort-of over.
    Rick makes a tangential ogives style and a style for the Gibbs rifles.
    Which is better for my Volunteer rifle?

    The Gibbs bullet would be a good performer. I have that mould from Rick but it's in the .44 caliber and I use it for the .44-77, .44-90bn and the .44-100 straight and it shoots every good in all of my .44's
    Rick makes a very good mould.

    The Lyman 451114 mold is made specifically for the PH Volunteer, and shoots wonderfully in mine. For practice I size the pure lead bullets to 0.450" and they slide down the barrel with minimal resistance. For hunting I use them unsized and hand lubed, and the resistance assures they stay against the powder while moving about. Both shoot to the same point of impact and accuracy is the same. Mine is extremely accurate with 90 gr of 3F. It is deadly on deer.
