Alliant 2400 has been my go to .30-06 cast powder for decades. The current lack of availability, plus the absurd prices when you can actually find it, has prompted me to move on.
Since 2400 is a superb magnum pistol powder, I'm looking at powders that fill the same niche in other manufacturers lineup. But sometimes it just doesn't quite line up. I do know that IMR 4227 does give good results in the 06 with cast. But I was wondering if anyone has tried W296/H110 or AA9 in the 30-06? I never see anything in print about these guys. They are regarded as excellent magnum pistol powders, I know that much.
If not these, any other suggestions? I typically shoot 16 gr 2400 under a150 gr cast at @1600 fps in my 03 Springfields, just a nice, accurate, super easy shooting load. That's all I'm looking to duplicate, just with a different powder.
