    what's happening with coffee?

yes I'll admit it. I'm an addict and my addiction is coffee. it began when I was about 6 years old having fresh cups of coffee from grandmas percolator covered in sugar and cream. then it escalated when I was a teenager and met a columbian friend who's family would import kilos of the finest fresh roasted beans from Barranquilla.
when that was not available would have to resort to Yuban which back in the 80's was a very good coffee. but over the years things changed having never really being able to afford the best fresh roasted beans from gourmet boutiques. but then came along sam's club with 2.5lb bags of perfectly roasted high quality columbian supremo. which has been a mainstay for me for decades until now. usually any sam's would have 2 to 4 pallets of the product but this seems to have ended in the last month or so. the coffee aisle had much smaller variety and an entire aisle of boxes of ground coffee in "K" cups from many different brands. an entirely different thing than the oily fresh roasted whole beans. prices have skyrocketed. Costco has a good quality bag of column beans that is now more than $22 that just 6 months ago was much much less. ive got a bag of Eight O'Clock The Original medium roast coffee beans to try when the last of the members mark is gone.
The coffee industry is a mess right now. mass produced coffee being roasted too hot and all kinds of other stuff added to the ground coffee that is available to us all.
If your like me and have to have coffee, here is a video you might want to watch.

I suppose it may be like ketchup where there's plenty of non-ketchup ingredients in the bottle.

It is. When its the same voice you have heard on a number of other videos, the channel has less than 10k subscribers, and they drop that "what they don't want you to know" line its AI generated crap.

Its a combination of factors before and after tariffs
Bad news for coffee drinkers: The record-high prices you’re paying will go even higher when tariffs take their toll - MarketWatch https://share.google/KkbLLBctylkBmT8e2

what farmbif said - should not be any tariff impact

I like French Roast -Aldis at the moment. It seems a bit hit amd miss so I don't even think twice about dropping $100 at a time or more on coffee I like. No point in driving back there.

The tariff on Coffee is to force the coffee bean exporting countries to lower their high tariffs on US products. Has nothing to do with trying to protect the non-existent American coffee bean production.
Columbia put high tariffs on American made construction equipment, aircraft and parts, auto parts, fertilizers, IT stuff, medical equipment, grain, meat, fruit etc. hurting American exporters. The high tariff on Columbia's very large coffee export to the US is to force Columbia to drop it's high tariffs on American goods. It's to hurt Columbia's bottom line and to force them to the table.

There's gotta be some reason to hate Trump for this. jd
It seems that people who do almost nothing, often complain loudly when it's time to do it.

They can grow it in California. and they are growing it there, but with Labor cost, land prices, watering cost, and property taxes are all real high. The price for Juan Valdez's coffee beans would need to be quadruple what they normally were (before tariffs) for CA to be able to be competitive.

Folgers is my everyday coffee, what use to be the 3 lb can is now 19 oz. The dollar store had them on sale last month for $8 each (4 for $32), plus there was a $5 coupon on a $25 purchase, so I made four trips, got an extra coupon on receipt for each trip. So that was $6.75 a can.
Today, I see the main grocery store has Folgers on sale, for $13.99 for a 19 oz can. I hope I have enough of the $6.75 Folgers until the tariffs go away.
