yes I'll admit it. I'm an addict and my addiction is coffee. it began when I was about 6 years old having fresh cups of coffee from grandmas percolator covered in sugar and cream. then it escalated when I was a teenager and met a columbian friend who's family would import kilos of the finest fresh roasted beans from Barranquilla.
when that was not available would have to resort to Yuban which back in the 80's was a very good coffee. but over the years things changed having never really being able to afford the best fresh roasted beans from gourmet boutiques. but then came along sam's club with 2.5lb bags of perfectly roasted high quality columbian supremo. which has been a mainstay for me for decades until now. usually any sam's would have 2 to 4 pallets of the product but this seems to have ended in the last month or so. the coffee aisle had much smaller variety and an entire aisle of boxes of ground coffee in "K" cups from many different brands. an entirely different thing than the oily fresh roasted whole beans. prices have skyrocketed. Costco has a good quality bag of column beans that is now more than $22 that just 6 months ago was much much less. ive got a bag of Eight O'Clock The Original medium roast coffee beans to try when the last of the members mark is gone.
The coffee industry is a mess right now. mass produced coffee being roasted too hot and all kinds of other stuff added to the ground coffee that is available to us all.
If your like me and have to have coffee, here is a video you might want to watch.
