Using 2500 lube... this is the first time in over 40 years I'm not using home brewed lube. Interestingly, there's no perceived difference in this and my own blend. I bought 5 sticks? from them. Considering how tiny amount of lube that's getting used.... well, 5 sticks is like a lifetime supply. So that's nice, and it seems to be slap happy. Just a lazy convenience.

This rig was trued up,and I set the headspace to .0015 over what this particular FL die produces. At this power level the cases are coming out of the chamber exactly the same length they were sized to,as measured with comparator.

Getting a small/medium amount of soot blowback on neck(TY Tony Boyer) and zero on case body. So loaded neck clearance is dang near spot on. Primers are starting to flatten and overall the fired case is not showing any abuse. New Starline brass. Running around .0015 neck tension at where the GC sits. The custom M die is made for this boolit, the second step(closer to case mouth) is .0005 under as cast body. So no flare, but you gotta get after the inside bevel smartly. I use a Lyman that's the longer gentle bevel.

Getting VG alignment prior to seating op with a V groove gizmo we made. Actually have two sizes, one long, one shorter. The 243 works on either... the long one might be a wee bit easier. I'll post a pic of these on the next go round.

I loaded some 8x57s with the Lee 175 gr cast and PC but they weigh 190 grs.
I’m using 21 grs of 4227 and NEW Remington primers- haven’t seen those for years.
I’m quite fond of the 8x57.

I hung a tensor spotlight that has been sitting atop my shelves for the last 7 years whilst I use a flashlight to see small stuff at my bench

It probably took an hour to get it right.

    Sometimes methinks Ibe an idgit?
Kalifornia passes "feel good" legislation hand over fist, legislation that is looking for a problem to solve and affecting only law abiding persons.

So, after 40 years of that nonsense, that's why I now live in Arizona.

Figured out why my P14 has light strikes.

The cocking piece was milled away, shortening the firing pin travel by about half an inch.

Replacement cocking piece top, milled piece bottom.

Alright, this should be interesting; Snagged some Hornady 6.5 GC's from a member here. Have been using Sage's and while they're "OK",the batch I have from them aren't quite up to their usual quality... not busting on them, just sayin. So,it will be kinda neat to do side by side comparison with the VERY consistent Hornady's. For my 260.

On a completely different front... like arguably an exact opposite of the above post.

Loading up some NOE 136 RNFP for a Colt DS. Bought it in the early 80's cause my M.I.L. had recently lost her husband(father in law)..and she felt the need for a small house gun. It may have 100 rounds through it. I'd clean it once a year and run a cylinder of lite handloads through it.

Well, love this 136g mould. Going with a mid book load of 700X. Will report back.

I cast a pot full between the Lee 379-250F and 430-200F moulds in tandem.
About 70 bullets each with no culls

    Could be long. Lapua 260 Rem cases;

Normally, shooting cast in modern factory bolt rigs, there just isn't a "need" to turn case necks. If you want to,fine... but not because of chamber neck clearance.

OK,up till now the few times I "wanted" to turn necks it was done with the little hand held units. And honestly,it works pretty durn good. But this time, there was a "need". It's a tight neck Brux 260 mentioned a few posts ago. I don't have a spud in this diameter for the neck turner... but we do have a machine shop. Instead of turning a pilot I figured what the hay,why not try turning case necks on one of the lathes. All went peachy.

Finally to the point, haha. Since I'd never done this before I was shocked at how bad honestly these brand new $$$ Lapua cases are. The necks came @.015" thick to begin with, and weren't that dang consistent. That's why we're turning, duh. That's not what I'm referring to. It's the lack of,consistency on the head end of things. Now,I'll admit to not having the patience to sit at a stupid bench rest wailing away looking for "groups". Nope, bench right out the shop door. I go out there with "cold" equipment, fire 3 or 5 shot groups and then go back to making stuff in the shop.

But holy moly... if this is what the BR crowd considers the gold std in cases? Bwahaha.
