If the truth must be known:

American Rifleman, because I'm a Benefactor Member
American Hunter, because my wife is a Benefactor Member
    Guns
    Guns and Ammo
    Shooting Times
    Firearms News (formerly Shotgun News)
The Firing Line (Calif. Rifle and Pistol Assn., Life Member)

Assorted outdoors catalogs such as Midway USA, Sportsmans Guide, etc.

Yes, I agree, after many years of learning and repetition, passing of good writers, changes in what is covered, much of what these publications have to offer isn't worth reading-- and I don't. I mostly skim read them, ignoring repetitive articles, especially those about plastic guns. I continue with them because I'm largely snowed in during the winter months and they provide reading material. Once in a while I'll uncover a jewel, but it's less and less frequently. Right now I'm about 18 months behind in reading them.

I joined the NRA around 1964 or 65 (long time ago-- exact date and memory fades) and then as my interests in the wonderful world of firearms and reloading expanded, so did my subscription list. Like many others, I saved all back issues. Some of them offered custom binders for their magazines, but I purchased 3-ring binders and a big hole punch that would easily punch 3-ring holes in a thick magazine. I had boxes and boxes of binders, and storage became a problem, not to mention the chore of moving which I did several times. Heavy! Finally, in 2016 I was faced with what I hope was my last move and I offered them here on the Forum for shipping only. No takers, and my son-in-law convinced me that the only practical answer was to place them in the large dumpster I had sitting in my driveway for other excess and unwanted items that wouldn't be making the trip. I was really regretful about doing it and lay awake that night considering if maybe I should remove them again. As fate would have it, it rained heavily, and the next morning they were a soggy mess. Now, upon the rare occasion when I find something worth saving, I cut the pages out of the magazine and put them in one of three binders designated "Firearms, Reloading, Gunsmithing" which, after 8 years of the new system, are only at medium thickness. The rest of the magazine, usually all of it, goes into the trash can.

There... the tale of my magazine odessey.

    DG

Originally, I had thought that keeping all of those back issues would prove a great reference source, especially as most of the magazines publish an index of their articles at the end of the year. But I was forced to be honest with myself and admit that there had only been a very few times over the years that I had looked something up, and that 99% of them were just wasted paper. I've noticed a few times, not many, here on the Forum that a member will request an article from the past, and that sometimes other members who have saved their magazines will oblige. That is a good thing, but having done it a couple of times before I disposed of my collection convinced me that it is a big chore to ask someone to perform, and that one might do better by seeing if the publishers of the magazine in which the article appeared could supply it.

I get just American Rifleman because I am a life member. There is very few current firearms that I am interested in .I just can not get into all the tactical, lights, red dots and supressors that fill the current magazines. I am old enough and have enough "stuff" That I need to shoot what I have and not buy anything new.

Handloader, Rifle and Guns & Ammo. I subscribed to precision shooting for over a decade. Some precision shooting magazines are available at archive.org.

I like Guns and American Handgunner. Unfortunately, both have gone ro an all digital format after the November issue.

Back in the day, the two I got the most from were Guns and Ammo and Shooting Times. Both have slipped badly in recent years, though.

I have subscribed to several over the years, but now the only one, and my favorite by far is Handloader magazine. It syncs up with my hobby better than any other I have read.

I am a lifelong reader who averages 500-700 pages a week. I have not had a gun magazine interest me in the last 10 years. I still get the NRA magazine and Montana Outdoors but rarely glance at gun mags.

Handloader, Rifle and American Rifleman, in that order of preference. I pay for the first two when it is due, Rifleman is always sent to this life member of the NRA. Love all of them, have saved copies of the first pair so I can look at past articles that I had forgotten.

Unfortunately, over the years the ads have taken over. Also, the great gun writers are mostly gone. I don’t agree or believe some things they write. They have no solid reps. I only take one now, Shooting Times. It’s OK, but it ain’t not Guns & Ammo of the day!

I have been a NRA life member for 45 years and don't get the magazine. My buddy has them and the ones I looked at did not interest me much. The get The Fouling Shot and nothing else. There have been a few over the years but dropped them. The last outdoor related magazine I subscribed to was The Backwoodsman, I really looked forward to that one. It changed after Charlie died and I just let run out.

Definitely Handloader. Used to take several other shooting magazines but have narrowed it down to just the one. Oh, and American Rifleman of course.

    Electronically I received:

    NRA Family
    America’s 1st Freedom
    American Hunter Insider
    American Rifleman Insider
    Shooting Illustratrd

The contents are pretty much 100% identical even to the point that the front page story is exactly the same for each, this month they are pushing the FN509 series pistols. We do receive a couple via postal mail which Dad will glaze through but he has lost interest as they fill seemed to be with silly things such as carbon fiber, picatinny railed, suppressed lever guns and other non-traditional things of no interest to us old fashioned folks.

For up to date interesting stuff, I tune to our forum to learn about what y’all are doing as it mostly aligns with my shooting / loading / discussion desires.

My friend gave me a subscription to Handgun magazine (part of Guns and Ammo). It is only published quarterly, I suppose because the new plastic technology does not change any faster than that. I would not willingly pay for this magazine.

I actually find more useful information in the hunting/trapping/homestead type magazines in the periodicals at the bookstore.

At this time, I subscribe to the following:

    - American Rifleman (NRA membership)
    - California Firing Line (California Rifle & Pistol Association - Even though I don't live in California anymore, I still like to see what is going on with gun rights in that state)
    - GCA Journal (Garand Collectors Association)
    - Handloader

I just need to take the time and read them all! I thought that once I retired, I would get caught up on my reading. Still hasn't happen yet!

I get 4 to 6 each month for the last 15 years and never had a prescription. I joined the NRA in the 80's. Now I get fishing-hunting-shooting-wine-archery-Texas travels- Ebony-and travel magazines for free and can't figure why. They keep telling me this is the last one but they keep coming.
