I run a toaster oven with a Auber PID for a temp control

I am having trouble with boolits melting.

.452 diameter nose down on an aluminum tray

One person mentioned in another thread about radiant heat from the elements causing the boolit temp to go over the melting point.

This is my 3rd toaster oven and the only one that I have had this problem with. I have already replaced the thermocouple

Would placing a metal tray over the element mitigate this issue. I also switched from using a button thermocouple to a long rod placed at the same level as the elements. I tested the new thermocouple and its within 6 degrees of the actual temp.

This issue did not happen with either of my previous ovens
