It's a movie. Do you think he would miss? LOL, Wouldn't be much of a movie if he kept missing.
It would have been interesting if in addition to what was presented, more time would have been spent asking Tom Selleck about the preparation he did for the movie with Mike Venturino, and maybe if Tom had ever shot the one Sharps he has. He has one of the three used in the movie, two working and one non-working props.
Also, it would have been fun to have Dave Gullo try the offhand bucket shot. I would put it 50-50 he might have connected given the rifle was sighted correctly.

Id give Mr Gullo better odds, If he was allowed to use his own rifle.
I cannot see well enough to pick out a bucket at that distance without some glass to assist.
Some of us were razcing Dave at a match not long after that episode of the show first aired a couple of years back he had quite a tale to tell about how that all came about and went diwn
Long range rules, the rest drool.
Interesting video but how they arrived at the distance is wrong, after all it's Hollywood. sometime back I researched this and found that someone had actually gone to the site where the scene was filmed and measured the actual distance, which if I remember correctly was 328 yards. The bucket target at the Quigley is 350 yards but is considerably larger than the bucket in the movie.
Likely there was little explosive charges under and in the bucket, not actually shot at all. Live rounds on a movie set is a no no.
Yes, hollywood. I have recently seen an advertisement for a movie where a made with a 12 gauge pump shotgun shoots a car that is one block away and the car explodes with flame shooting up about 2 or 3 stories high and a massive fireball. yuck, james
20"x20" bucket at 325yd is equivalent to 6.5moa circle. With today's gun and ammo it is really no big deal, even first shot hit with iron sight.
Haven't shot black powder. Is it subsonic? I have a .41 swiss shooting 220gr subsonic. I may want to give it a try. Or a subsonic .300 Blackout with heavy cast bullet?
