    ES Powder coat help

So I'm having some issues powder coating. I've been doing shake and bake for years now, but I recently got an Eastwood dual voltage gun I'm trying, and my first batches were poor results. The coating is uneven, has trouble with the bullet bases, and even seems to get blown off as I'm spraying. I have a plenty of experience with spray guns and airbrushes, but ES powder coating is new to me. Any advice? I was also spraying outside if thats an issue.

    Thanks

Bullets need to be GROUNDED. You will get some 'overspray'. And use LOW air pressure.
    Whatever!

Bullets were grounded and psi was set to about 5 at the gun. Its possible I had a poor ground though.

Occasional "agitation" of the powder bottle helps the powder flow. I use closer to 10 psi.

How did the bullets get the ground connection? I set them with the bare base on a metal plate. I experimented with setting the nose of rifle bullets in holes in a metal plate to coat the bases. I tossed the ES gun yrs ago and just do shake & bake - never noticed a difference. Oh , I started with HF powder, terrible stuff but it worked for ES. I also found it was easy to get really thick coat with the ES gun, not really needed.
    Whatever!

So i actually realized the spring in the grounding cable was in sideways, so it wasn't keeping pressure on it being closed. Having said that, i tried again and still issues. The bullets are sitting on non stick aluminum foil, with the ground being attached to the foil.

Maybe the foil is nonstick because there is an imperceptibly thin coating of something like silicone on it.
If you have a multimeter, try doing a continuity check on the foil surface.

I assume there is some kind of coating but from my research here, that's what the experts are using without any ill effects. I'll give the multimeter a try.

I appreciate all the help so far. Id really like to get this working right.
