I never read anything about 32 H&R Mag. All the things I was reading all had to do with 327. Until reading your responses just now, I didn't know 32 Mag had had problems. In addition to the brass problems, folks were complaining about the lack of load data for 327 and were experimenting by increasing 32 Mag loads.

327 Fed Mag came out in 2007, correct? I assume the stuff I read was written in 2007 but the rememberer isn't as good as it used to be.

Except for the factory loads all the 327 Brass I have is Starline.

One of my best friends who passed away last year was a BIG .32 shooter...he had the same problem with Federal .32 H&R brass and loaded ammo....tons of splits. I had one box of factory ammo with easy 50% splits...

Love .327 but only use Starline brass....

    Bob,

While I was having my 616 built and buying my Blackhawk 8-shooter, I scrambled around and bought some of the high dollar Federal defense loads and a box of 50 primed cases, th. Somewhere along in there (ca 2013) I bought these American Eagle cartridges somewhere along about this time too. Meanwhile I got my name on the list @ Starline for 1000 of their first run of 327 Fed Mags. Now, about 12 years later I still have at least 300 rds new and unmolested in MTM cases, and the other several hundred or so scattered around. What I really need to do is set aside enough time to carefully and precisely load about 50 or so rounds of my baseline load and get me to the range for testing and practice.

I’m not too sure of my status on H&R length cases, but I’m sure I’ve got plenty since Dale53 “retired” from reloading and gifted me a bunch, and like me, he favored Starline as it became available. As for 32 S&W Long, I’ve been loading those for over 35 years, so I’ve kinda lost track of how large my overabundance may be. I guess you could say I’m a 32 afficianado!

......there is also the word "addict"....like I am with .38 Super and .41s...

I simply refuse to have anything other than .327 brass in the house. Have had a bunch of .32 H&Rs in the past and was quite frankly just underwhelmed...

Still wondering when S&W is going to bring out some Js and Ks in .327....sad that Ruger isn't doing any more GP100s...the 5" half-lug blue guns looks about perfect.

    ..at this point I have:
    JRH Custom 6" Model 53
    FA 97 4.25" round butt
FA 97 4.25" square butt with .327/.32 H&R and .32-20 cylinders that was my friend's gun
    Ruger GP100 4"
Early Ruger SP-101 3" with the little adjustable rear sight
12" TC Contender Octagon .32 H&R that was rechambered to .327

    ...that is enough for me....

Smith has sold a few (all too few) 327s and somewhat more examples in 32 H&R. In fact, I have a much loved Model 631 in 32 H&R, so brass in that caliber is mandatory here, as is 32 S&W L to feed my 32 HE (I frame) and my recreated K32. Some “addictions” run deep!

I traded off my 327 a while back but shot 4 boxes of American Eagle 100 gr through it. I later reloaded 50 of them several times and saw no splits. I would contact Federal about that lot number.
