    Gas checks and Ransom rest

After a summer of testing plain base vs gas checks in the ransom rest on 4 different revolvers the bullets with gas checks always grouped better but many times it was a very small amount. I believe that the bases being the same from boolit to boolit contributed to this. Another thing we found out round nose boolits were almost always the most accurate in guns with over size throats. Also round nose bullets were one of the most accurate of all styles we tried. I have no idea why that is. Some may find these findings interesting and others not.

At what range were your tests conducted? Also what caliber and firearm fired through? Seems interesting. Thanks Bob

When I was in college, a long time ago, watched a couple of guys shoot very good scores with a 36 and a 60. At 25 yards in the rain, off hand. Short barrels will do as well as the shooter can.
