Looking to get a new Ruger Blackhawk in .41 Mag

Hello. Like others have said, they are not shorter. Here is mine with MP 41 Hammer bullets. There is room to spare.

Why would you want a 41 magnum rather than a 44 magnum ?

I myself don't follow the mainstream crowd, I've had a 41 BH for as long as I can remember.
It was the caliber that actually got me into reloading and eventually into casting.
Now I own both, in lever guns and revolvers, plus some 45 colts.
My favorite mold is this accurate mold, drops around 270 most of the time. I don't recall the OAL,I'd have to refer to some notes.

I shoot it in both the BH and the Henry.

My go-to is the RCBS 210 SWC if you don't mind iron molds. Readily available and I see them used at reasonable prices. I don't know why they call it 210, mine drops 218gr with hardball alloy and the couple of others I know of do the same. It works fine for me but some complain about the thin front driving band. Not a "true" Keith. The Accurate 41-220K is probably the most "authentic" bullet in a modern mold.

Every .41 I've seen (admittedly not that many) has been incredibly accurate. I'm not sure the bullet choice matters a whole lot. You often see the Ruger .41's at reasonable prices because they tend to linger. The least popular type of handgun chambered in a somewhat obscure cartridge. Most people who ask me about my S&W 657 never heard of it. The .41 is a reloader's cartridge. I think it's becoming a caster's cartridge. I've had several commercial casters drop their .41's on me over the years. They are still around but if your commercial caster decides he needs to economize due to business conditions the .41 is one of the first selections to go. That's one of the reasons I took up casting again after a long hiatus.

How was the quality on those mid 80’s Rugers?

I got my Ruger Bisley model in early '91. It was essentially new as I got it from an Army captain who was transferred to Germany and didn't have time to do the paperwork to take it with him. He said he'd only shot 12 rounds through it and still had the box of Remington ammunition with just 12 rounds fired. The Ruger was in excellent condition, so I bought it. It has proven to be very accurate and is my favorite "hunting" revolver. Quality is excellent. Throats measure .410 pinned. Only thing I've done is smooth the trigger pull and D&T the top strap for a Weaver tipoff base.

Not a question of "rather" but because I "can".

I have Rugers not only in 41 Magnum but also in 32 H&R Magnum, 44 Magnum and 44-40.

That is because I am an American, have a credit card and want one.........
