    Anaconda help

    Good day,

I picked up a 1993 Colt Anaconda in mint shape. I like shooting 429215 GC out of Lyman #2 out of it. I recently picked this one up and put 200 44 Special rounds through it. Little back ground: The Bore is .417, plus .012 for lands, that make a dia of 429. The cylinder thoats are .429. The 429215s sized at .429 shoots clean, but is not any accurater than the ones sized to .430.
What do you think is the best combo for this magnificent pistol? I have been running 5 gr of X700 with Rem 2.5 primenrs with Win brass. Perplexed.

    Thanks

I got my 44 Anaconda in the same time frame. The throats also measure .429 [pinned] and are not tapered. Thus, I size .429 to seat cast bullets with drive bands larger than that for ease of chambering when 44 Magnum cases are used. With some like my own 429215s and 429360s the drive bands are .428 as cast so I size them .431 just because my Ruger FTBH likes them that way.

In 44 SPL cases, the size of the drive bands doesn't matter. Thus, if you have another 44 you use the SPL cases in I'd just go with what you size the bullets for in it and just enjoy shooting the same load in the Anaconda. If you want the best accuracy, use 44 Magnum cases and develop a similar load for it. In my Anaconda, which is the most accurate revolver I own, I use .429 sized bullets in magnum cases.
