Looking to get a new Ruger Blackhawk in .41 Mag

I have heard that these revolvers have cylinders on the short side. Might be limited to more standard weight bullets. What is a go to mold recommendation for this sixgun?

I don’t think the Blackhawk cylinders are short. My Blackhawk hunting load has a COL of 1.725”. That is with the MP molds 411-265. The large hp version weighs 250 grains with my alloy.

I have no problem with the Keith SWC in my large frame 41, the mid frame Blackhawk's have the shorter cylinder.

Maybe what you heard, was that RBH 357 mag cylinders are shorter than S&W revolvers?
I know I had issues with a RBH 357 that wouldn't allow certain cast bullets seated to crimp groove, where it would fit in my N-frame 357.
I don't think that is the case with 41 mag guns.

Here is the revolver in question. Is this a mid frame?

    They are not midframe revolvers.

My 4-5/8" Blackhawk in 41 Rem Mag is the most accurate single-action revolver I own, among many. It is so accurate that I sold my Freedom Arms Model 97 in the same chambering.

When was yours made? What do the cylinder throats measure?

I don't remember when I bought it and have never measured the throats. Sorry.

Local gun shop has a 1984 Ruger Black Hawk, blue, 7 1/2” barrel in .41 Mag in very good condition for $499
How was the quality on those mid 80’s Rugers?

My favorite 41 magnum boolit mould was made by NOE ...

He took the Lyman #358432 - 160 gr. design , it is a plain based wadcutter design that is not seated flush into the case but protrudes out like a SWC ... it has a crimp groove and top driving band like a SWC ... but is a big flat WC flat point boolit with slightly rounded edgr for easy loading into chanbers .
He enlarged the design to .410 and it weighs 215 grs. A combo WC - SWC it is accurate as all get-out , hard hitting and great for paper targets , tin cans , Louisiana hogs and self defense ... I sure am glad I got one ...
Gonna mis Al and NOE that's for sure !
Sorry but I don't have photo abilities ... they make for purty looking boolits !

The 80's guns I've seen are better than the newer stuff.

That's true but my newer model is also very good. wow@499.00 and you don't own it. Humm better hope somebody else doesn't see it. to answer your question H&G 258 is the gold standard for the 41mag.
I started out with nothing and I still have most of it left.

Why is the older 41 better than the new 41?

Why would you want a 41 magnum rather than a 44 magnum ?
