That sounds like it would work. I have not reloaded any 32 Short or Long Colt but typically the 32 Long Colt recommendation will be 2 grains of Bullseye powder for an 85 grain bullet. Red Dot is just a hair faster so I think that is a load I would try and use a Garmin to measure the speed. I would expect around 600 feet per second, if it's low addd more and if it's high then subtract a little.

It will probably be pretty close; maybe a bit slow so you may have to bump it up to 1.75 grains to make it an even 600 FPS. Try it and see and report your results.

32 Long Colt sounds like a pretty lame pistol cartridge which is why everyone dropped it long ago.

Ideal Handbook #32 indicates 665 fps with a load of 1.5 gr. of Bullseye and 80 gr bullet (#299152). My 299152 mold casts it's bullet at 76.5 gr of 30:1.
Phil Sharpes 1937 Complete Guide to Handloading lists 80 gr bullet with 1.5 of Bullseye @ 790 fps (attributed to Hercules Powder Co.) and 80 gr. bullet with 1.9 gr. of Bullseye @ 810 fps w/breech pressure of 8000 (attributed to Julian Hatcher).
None of these references indicates whether data is taken from rifle or revolver testing. In my experience with 32 Long RF in a number of rifles, the 299153 (88gr.) is much more accurate although it may be too long a load to chamber in a short and power should be reduced to keep pressure down, just how much, I don't know.
In an accurate rifle the 32Rf Long is accurate enough to hunt bumblebees and horsefly's out to near 50
yards. Accuracy and shot placement will allow the 32 to punch well above tree rat level.

I don't remember the exact bullet or if it was a RF Long or XL case but a Level 2 nail gun blank was used for primer and propellant, range was about 20 yards, he went 3 feet, straight down.

I will let everyone know the progress soon as I get some loaded up I’ve been dealing with my throat cancer had to have a tracheostomy last September now the cancer growth ugh I’m looking on the web now to try to find some more heeled bullets I bought a mold someone told me was a .311 32 cal heeled mold but it’s not heeled but it will work for my rem
#4 32 s&w short the one I’m loading 32 lc and sc for is a rem #4 also both tight rifles and shoot great I bought some 93gr heeled boolits from old west bullet molds they mic .311 but the base is .304 and won’t go in the case thought I would use my seating dye to shove them in and shave them and then run through my crimp die but was a no go so back to looking for a mold or boolits

Cancer is a curse on humanity. It has affected people close to me on a number of occasions. I wish you the best in your battle.

I am a 32 fan but none of my 32s are close to what you have. I do have Quickload and enjoy using it to help others. To be most useful, it would help to have:

    Powder(s) of interest
    Barrel length (breech to muzzle)
    Bullet weight
    Bullet length
    COAL
Desired power level, pressure or something similar

I had a custom mold made for my .32 Colt conversion of a Stevens 44 .32 RF. It makes a bullet that's a stubby round nose with a wide flat meplat, weight 84 grains cast of 1-20 alloy. Dimensions: .292 on the heel and .312 on the major diameter. (Heel diameter makes for a nice snug thumb-press fit in the .32 S&W Long Starline brass I swage to fit the .32 Colt Long chamber.) If this sounds like something that might work for you, shoot me a PM and I'll send you a handful and if they please you we can talk about a sufficient supply to keep you going a while.
