The solid soft lead bullet is undoubtably the best and most satisfactory expanding bullet that has ever been designed. It invariably mushrooms perfectly, and never breaks up. With the metal base that is essential for velocities of 2000 f.s. and upwards to protect the naked base, these metal-based soft lead bullets are splendid.

Forget everything you know about loading jacketed bullets. This is a whole new ball game!

UAF Safety Department has two excellent mandatory seminars
They are studying hibernating bears, my tax dollars at work,

    "Bear Safety"
    "Safety around bears"

In one class the bears are safe
    other class, you are safe

We can't have both at once.

    429,

We can ONLY be safe for own selfs. People assume too much and then are victims. We are responsible for our own safety anywhere we go. When I carry, I never advertise the fact. Bad guys or bad animals will be well informed forth with!!

Runt bears with an attitude are dangerous critters. We had one in our neighborhood challenging people including me on their porches/decks. I helped the state trap it and they shipped it twenty miles away but it was back in less than a week. The warden told me to just shoot him and don't notify them due to paperwork and publicity, Just enjoy the meat. Sadly (maybe), I never saw that bear again as a much bigger and better behaved bear moved in.
