Not all revolvers are created equal, but you knew that.

I know that for sure. Ive had a few .357s I let go and kick myself for it. One was a early Dan Wesson. Another was a Colt Python. Both were real good shooters. When I was in my early 30s I killed a fox over 100 yards with that Python. Partly luck, but not all luck. And I did not think it was a big feat of marksmanship. Friends and myself regularly lined up clay pigeons on a 100 yard berm and proceeded to bang away at them while resting on a bench. It was good practice. Yea the gun was very accurate, but the real factor was 30 year old eyes that can really focus on the top of the front site. Pretty tough to shoot a handgun well if you cant do that. Dont care how accurate the gun is.
The GP100 I have now will suffice for the short shots I would be taking with these old eyeballs.

180 Grain WFN max load of H110 or WW296. Did you say the barrel length? If its shorter then look at AA7-AA9. But you could just purchase Buffalo Bore 180 grain loaded ammo. Shot placement boiler room. The 180 WFN hardcast will penetrate deep. Broadside it will exit steep quartering might not.

Here is the one I use it works great.

Lyman 35829 or 358439 if you prefer a hollow point. 13.5 grains of 2400 is my load in my Flattop Blackhawk . Does the job with either bullet. I have also used the Thompson bullet in the HP version with success.

Killed two with .357 Magnum cast. One with a Hornady 158 gr HP and the other with a 358429 HP. The Hornady is really a little soft but , the 358429 HP is a good one

Im thinking of something like a 158-180 grain hardcast. What are you 357 users shooting?
Lee 158 RFP. 16.6 H110. Haven't hunted deer with it but it kills feral hogs in the 110 to 125 pound range so it should work on deer.

No, that's from a Ruger Security Six 6" with Hornady, and Taurus 66 6" for 358429.

I think I will look at that 180 grain Noe or Lyman 358156. Probably just use in in tree stands and short range. Thankyou
180 WFN from NOE will get it done over a stout load of H110 . To add to that this is in a 10" T/C . My hunting load is 180 WFN GC cast from 50/50/2% (coww/pure/tin solder) watercooled & nose Tempered. Size to .360" over
    13.8gr H110 or 12.6 gr AA9 lit with CCI mag primers .

It's been over 40 yrs since I took my first mule deer with a 357 Mag handgun. S&W M28 Highway Patrolman, 6". Bullets was Lyman 358156 GC, water dropped COWW, 38 special cases, 2400 powder. Bullet was seated to bottom crimp groove. Very accurate and the buck went down PDQ.

    Cool

I go for heavy cast over velocity.
