Considering how much jacketed bullets cost now, you can still save money, casting even buying a bunch of gear and a bunch of supplies that will last past your lifetime. especially if they're in crazy calibers

A caution using the Coleman stove. If you try to smelt a large quanity the grid on the Coleman can get so hot that it bends and collapses. Stick with about 20 lbs. The frame of the stove supports the grid, when the metal bends the grid will fall down.
What to flux with? Any carbon based lifeform.
@JonB_in_Glencoe, Hahaha, My Dad was the caster. I was probably 30 y.o. when I observed him casting boolits. He cast enough for both of us and the process was interesting to me then.
I'm old enough to know that firearms, shooting, and saving money just don't belong in the same sentence... Having real fun these days is expensive. As the saying goes, "you can't take it with you"...
This should also be mentioned here, Do not forget your personnel protective gear. Glasses, long pants, long sleeved cotton shirt, leather boots, gloves and eye protection. A hatis also a good idea. Working with molten metals can be as dangerous or safe as you make it.
Remember those pretty new ingots or bullets are still hot for a while

Sure they do, but maybe the humor section would be a better fit.

Flux your melt well with Wood Shavings , Beeswax and Commercial Lead Flux like Marvelux .Keepp skimming , fluxing and stirring untill thhe melt is clean... use all three fluxes , each does a different job and is needed ...and flux and stir untill no more trash floats to the surface .
Marvelux is a Great commercial lead flux ...
... Use it , along with wood shavings and beeswax , to get all impurities Out !
