WG: That is neat you have the Lyman Ideal Foster Slug maker set. Somewhere in my shop I have one of those. Years ago I had an 1812 Springfield 69 cal flint musket. I soldered a small brass rear sight onto the barrel with a filed notch in it. But it took a heavy duty ole Lachmiller press with a reinforcement to swage the rifling onto the cast slug. The rifled slugs shot a 3" group at 50 yards. Good enough to take it muzzleloader deer season hunting in Pennsylvania. Make sure to use plenty of lube when swaging the rifling onto the cast Foster slugs.

Yeah when I grabbed it I didnt realize it took a special press. I probably wont end up using it. I also grabbed a normal Lyman slug mold.

Could possibly be used with a arbor press, or a shop press... I'd do some looking around and see what you can do to get that puppy barking again!

I am jealous. I have only ever seen two of those in like 50 years. The press is a Lyman EZY Loader - I think. Nice find -use pure lead.

My avatar is almost a dead ringer for my little buddy Chico. Six pounds of mean that thought he was a Pit Bull. Miss that little guy.
