Hello Avenger There is a newer Orange type color called Sunset Red. It is as described, a sunset orange color with reddish tone resembling the sun setting color on the horizon. It is not Orange/Orange per say, but a nice colour. It is not in US at the moment. The burnt Orange has a brownish burnt appearance when comparing them.

The Hi-Tek coatings and other products like Aqualube and Mold Release, are now going into about 56 countries, so yes, it remains popular and increasing steadily in those areas on cast alloy manufacture.. There is a world shoot in Germany at present, and The Aussies are being represented by Black Widow Projectiles, using the Hi-Tek Black Widow Red coating. I await the results on the competition.

Not so fast Ausglock.... the new resin system has been made but a lot of work is required to prove it works for all calibers and can be used similarly to the original Hi-Tek powdered coatings. The new technology resin can take 300C plus to cure and takes about 20 minutes, and is currently not practical to use, but resin final color by itself, seems fairly stable after high cure temperature. There needs a lot of work to try and get it to cure at lower temperatures in quicker times and meet all engineering requirements. I am hopeful with a lot of experiments, a more color stable heat resistant coating can result. Not sure at this stage...but hoping.

Are you using a powered tumbler to coat? if so how is it setup thanks

This may help with understanding coating method using Hi-Tek https://youtu.be/RnBVfGzwyuM Hi-Tek is mixed into solvent and applied quickly to cast alloys. Coated casts is then poured onto drying trays, and baked after thorough drying. Get perfect results every time using very thin coats.

So new resin cures close to 600 F. Yeah I'm pretty sure my oven won't do that. Might get 500 F out of it. Though I don't think it would last very long.

Joe I know pictures posted can not be quite the color that the object is but can you post the Sunset Red. And is it sensitive to temp variations?
While I work at it, it is by God's grace that it happens. So it is best I ask him what, how and when before I start..

    thanks
do you know what angle the bucket is at and how many kg you do at once?

    Hello Avenger
The sunset Red is fairly stable. I do not have any over baked photos to show what happens. The ingredients are described a being stable to 230C. What changes the colour is the resin, which darkens with excessive heat, and that is why colour changes.
The new resin I am trying now, requires modification so it can be cured at normal temperatures. The best part seems to be that the colour will not darken as much as the current resin. There is a lot of work and testing to be done to hopefully get the results needed.

    Good morning from Finland.

Here is a nice copper. 1035 Gold with a dash of Candy Apple.

This is Hi Tek coating on top of a PC coat, to get my 275 grn Mihec 375 H&H GC bullets bases covered after PC. PC is for size and extra protection, these are plain WW BHN 8. I found that I can shoot them without GC coated this way. These shoot @ 2350 fps, clean barrel and accurate enough for practise ( 1" / 5 rds/ 75 m with a 4x B.Nickel thick german reticle scope). It's a VV N140 starting load for J-bullet.

I like copper colour because it does not draw attention, people don't stop by asking about my bullets. Especially when I have a Barnes box on the table. I'm sure I had Red Copper once, I have either used it all up or lost it. It is nice, too.

Here is 1035 / Candy Apple:

    80's B Nickel:

1035 Gold looks good, too. Bake slightly over for a bronze tint. Rifle is an 80's Sako Deluxe:

A target for zero check. Zoom a bit. I like to shoot claybirds, standing up to 100 meters. An "Imaginary Buffalo Charge" -drill, 1+4 rds @ 10 m with a timer is good practise, too.

    Great news!

Aqualube and Mold Release have made my life so much easier -and my ammo better- ever since I discovered them some years ago.

I like mixing colors to see how they come put together, I have been mixing a small amount of Black with Candy Apple Red, so far I have not added enough Black to make a lot of difference.

    Here they are in daylight.

Fully resized brass & a smaller dia (.376") bullet gave me +75 fps. I only shot one 75 m group, it was not a success (could be my Sunday) but I broke claybirds just fine.

Or maybe the fat ones are more accurate,as it seems now. Need more groups.

And this shoots clean, too. I don't know why but this rifle seems to accept a wide range of bullet sizes. On the other hand, inside of all the coatings my fat .382" boolit (for unsized loadings) is still the same .3775" size that it dropped...?

Thanks Michael, it may be better to have some hobbyists or clubs combine and place an order. It could probably work out costing less, as there is one freight component. They can easily then work out costs for each person's order.

So will this require shipping from Australia?
