NOE TL-178gr “Ranch Dog” plain-based bullet cast of Softball alloy ( 1pt Linotype + 3 pts pure lead), 16-grs 2400 or 18-grs 5744. Charges can be increased to 18-grs 2400 or 20-grs 5744 using gas-checks. These are mild loads but I’ve found that increasing charge weights with a relatively soft alloy tends to open-up groups. Perhaps a harder alloy such as Hardball might permit higher velocities. My mold produces two plain-based bullets and two gas checked bullets with each pour, and has pins for flat, cup and hollow points.

I've been loading a NOE 169 grain spire point over 7 grains of Titegroup for my son's Ruger .308. They are weight sorted , hiteck coated and gas checked. They will shoot a half inch at 100 yards but about 2 inches lower than a regular load with little noise and no recoil.

cast bt spizer.jpg This image is of some boolits I recently bought to test, shot at 50 yards gave a large ragged hole.
175 grains boolit, 16 grains 2400 coal 2.795. Boolits are hitech coated and I tumble them in liquid alox and crimp them with the lee factory crimp die.
Works in my 20" barrel Browning BLR. MV about 1600 fps.
I've just ordered several hundred more as there's no recoil, little noise and they are quick and cheap to load.
    Regards,
    John.

    Does Varget download well?
I shoot so that I can handload.

I’m liking 20.8 grs of IMR 4227 with the C309170F and CCI Large Pistol primers.
40 yards; I haven’t tried it at 100 yards yet.
