303 Savage bullet from Accurate Molds

Has anyone ever cast and loaded this bullet from Accurate Molds? Or one that is close in design? Accurate bills this bullet as a 303 Savage design..

If you've got experience with this bullet in various 30 caliber rifles, I'd be interested in learning about your failures/successes.

    Thanks. PBSmith,

That ought to be a humdinger. It appears to be a slightly longer, heavier version of the old and excellent Lyman 311-291, only with a flat nose. The 311-291 works well in my .303 Savage 1899, giving accuracy every bit as good as that I obtain with jacketed bullets. The only fly in the ointment is the lack of modern, published data suitable for that weight.

What I would try are loads that have been accurate for me in the 30-30 using the RCBS 30-180fn: namely 17.5 grains of 2400, or 28 grains of WW748. Neither are top end loads, but both performed well for me back in my Lever Action silhouette days. That 2400 load works great with the 311-291, giving me 1.5 " 50 yard groups with iron sights

You don't need modern data. That old data is still out there and still works.

No cast listed but you will get the general idea. Both have .303 Savage listed. I looked for a pdf of the 1958 cast bullet handbook but can't find one . There are several listed on ebay if you don't have a hard copy.

It looks a lot like the RCBS 180 fn. Mine weighed 195 gr lubed and checked. Almost anyone I spoke with had the same weights or close with WW alloy. I would use any information for start loads with that bullet.
