    down a side rabbit hole:

if you're stuck with it, consider removing the OEM PID and replacing it with a stand-alone outside the case. Not a total winner but at least it gives you some use out of it

I've had my Model 1 open several times (cheap on/off switch that melted after 20 years), and it's not that big of a deal. I used sheet metal screws to replace the rivets I drilled out.

I also bypassed the timer on my toaster oven so it would stay on till I turned it off.

Not the best solution possible, but maybe the best under these circumstances

    best of luck

I've had 2 PM-2s, the first was a mess and RCBS replaced it, the lever bound on the guide because the stanchions were so out of line. The replacement was better, at least the stanchions were correctly aligned but it leaks non-stop and after about 5mos the stick on PID button pad started lifting.

Built a PID and added a K probe to my MoldMaster, works great, used it until acquiring an original Pro-Melt. Added a K probe to it and now can interchange between the two.

I wouldn't waste my time with the PM-2's built in PID, it is nothing like the one Hatch offers or one you can build if you have the skill.

RCBS used to be extraordinarily user friendly.

    BUmmer.
Kalifornia passes "feel good" legislation hand over fist, legislation that is looking for a problem to solve and affecting only law abiding persons.

So, after 40 years of that nonsense, that's why I now live in Arizona.
