Want to move to Hi-Tek with 2X coatings?

Background .358 LHP bullets: I found the GT Bullets 130 LHP cast bullets to be extremely accurate in my S&W 686 6&7" revolvers. Since GT has stopped producing that bullet (and others) temporarily I dug out my
MP 360-640 Light HP Plain base mold and cast a bunch, sized lubed them with my Star sizer/luber.

Watching a video both the GT and my cast bullets really smoke (W231). Blue and/or red lube.

Considering casting another batch using HI-TEK coating this time. From posts I see the HI-TEK sequence is: bullets are cast, HI-TEK coated, sized and then given the 2nd HI-TEK coating. Is this the proper sequence? Looking for competition accuracy.

Each time you coat you add thickness and it's not a uniform thickness.
I coat, bake, coat, bake, then size
I haven't purchased any new stuff in over ten years so I am unsure if the procedure is different with the new product or if its the same.

Looking at my Acme and/or Bayou Hi-Tek bullets they appear not to be sized after coating?

Powder coated is Superior to high tek. I get to scrub Lead Out of My Revolver today because High teks inability to prevent leading. Hitek it's okay for 38 Special. The problems happen when got over about a thousand feet per second.

I have not had any issues with Hi-Tek in 9mm, .45ACP, .338 Spectre, or .458 Socom. I coat twice then size.

Thanks Guys...I have really good luck with HI-TEK 9mm bullets (150 SWC) in my S&W 986 6" revolver with Accurate #2. I'll just experiment the process(s) with the HI-TEK coating on the 130JHP cast bullets in my 686.

Using Hi-Tek for my 9 mm I:
Cast
Coat
Size to 357
Coat
Size to 358
This gives me a uniform OD.

I coat and cure twice and then size to get an exact and uniform diameter, though maybe that’s a little OC.

Just don’t size before the first coat: the inventor notes possible poor alloy adhesion (I guess that doesn’t apply to a second coat over a cured and sized first coat).

ETA: with hollow points, sometimes the cavity (and sharp edges on some bullet designs) may not coat well. That’s just esthetics, but there are workarounds. One is extra coats. Another is to use more of a diluted mix. For example, instead of ~5 ml of a 20/100 mix, I’ll use 10 ml of a 10/100 mix. Between taking longer to flash off and the greater volume, I get better coverage with the same amount of coating ending up on each bullet.
