Lee Loadmaster, what do you think it's worth?

I got this a few years back with a grand scheme of reloading and shooting a bunch but the reality is I just don't shoot or reload that often. I've reloaded on this thing successfully and it works good but anytime I reload I just find myself going back to my classic single stage that I started on. So this thing literally has just collected dust and it's honestly taking up a bunch of room on my bench that I would like back. With that being said, what do you think it's worth including the stand and everything? It's brand new and only been used 1 time.

It has been slicked up A LOT when I first got it. Watch the video to the end, this thing is nuts how smooth I managed to get it.

Maybe you know: I thought LEE had some type of program to take that machine back and exchange for a six pack – the newer progressive press that they make.

I've looked into that and they don't give you much. But I also do not want another progressive press.

Let the market determine its value.

Frankly, and I know this will tick a lot of people off…but…you will not get your highest price listing it here. Too many old guys like me who either have more stuff than they need or want a “deal”.

I would list it on eBay. You can check completed auctions on eBay and get a feel for its value.

The biggest problem with the Loadmaster is the priming system. The primer feed parts are plastic that do dot hold up. I have three Lee Loadmasters. The only way to get them to work reliably is to size and prime the cases and then feed them into the Loadmaster to charge the powder and seat a boolit. I like Dillon ! Have four Dillons that never miss a beat! I would sell my Loadmasters cheap and buy another Dillon. Several reloaders on this site have reworked their Lee Loadmasters and apparently have them working.

    Yes, 101% spot on.
I don't think I've ever seen a Lee priming system that worked.

Correct, I had 5 Loadmasters (some given to me) which all had priming systems that worked very well. Mike Rowan, Mikes Reloading Bench, provided a service which made Loadmaster priming systems work well, among other improvements he made to the press. Sadly he is no longer doing it and with Lee discontinuing the press in 2022 seems logical.

Loaded a multitude of pistol rounds on them for a very long time, still running one once in a while.

A lot of talk about priming system, no talk about value

I did a quick google search and came up with 200 to 400 dollars.

Well, a new 6-Pack Pro is going to run you $400. $500-550 if you get it with the dies you want...

Given that the Loadmaster had some issues, and is a retired product, you're looking at substantially less. I'd say a fair price is probably in the neighborhood of $250-300. But, people with pay ridiculous amounts for things these days, even when what they're buying isn't worth it.

That said, it's your machine. The question you have to ask yourself is what would you be willing to part with it for??? I've sold a lot of stuff way cheaper than they're worth just to be rid of it. And I've sold a lot of stuff higher than it was worth because I really didn't want to sell it....

These men and their hypnotized followers call this a new order. It is not new. It is not order.

They don't hold as much value as other presses as they require you to know more about how they operate to get them to work well.

The last one I has was free but it came as a box of parts.

I'd start high and work your way down until it sells or you decide to keep it and use it. Maybe wait for the next panic, you can get lots more for stuff when people are making irrational buying decisions.

After Obama part II and sandyhook, I sold a Dillon 650 on ebay for $1800 and had a new 1050, a bullet feeder and a little cash left over 3 weeks later...

It all depends...Would you be selling it with dies, turret and shell plate? I've owned two and find them to be finicky to set up but reliable once set up. I did prime off press with the second one that I owned. Despite numerous changes to the priming system, my first one, once I had the primer system "tweaked" it performed flawlessly loading 500 rounds weekly of .38 spl. I've yet to change over my newest one from 9mm to .38 spl.

I might be interested, if the price is right. What caliber is it currently set up for?

I bought the basic one a number of years ago for around $100. They demand a lot of tinkering and I now only use it for 9mm and 223 both of which I shoot the most. I even prime on it!

I have the Lee four hole turret press and the ultimate Turret Press. Both of them prime no issues. I can't understand why Lee would have such a problem when their other products have no problem. Maybe it is plastic versus metal? The four hole turret uses all metal. The Ultimate Turret uses all plastic. Both work fabulously.

I've had four Lee Pro 1000s go through my reloading room over the years. First one a box of parts I got going with some new replacement bits. One well used but serviceable. One barely used at all. The last somewhere in between. I got out of them because the priming system was a constant source of trouble. Especially with 9mm cases that lost powder out of them if you went too hard or fast. Powder gummed up the priming. Same with any leakage from the powder measure. There was always some leakage. A mate bought a new LoadMaster, full system with dies etc. After 6 mths of endeavor he took it to the rubbish dump and tossed it. I have had several Lee 3 hole turret presses. The auto advance never worked more than a few rounds. I've kept one I use manual advance for batch loading rifle cartridges. I have a Lee 4 hole Classic Cast with auto advance that works flawlessly. Wonderful press. But the two Dillon 550Bs I use for Pistol bulk loading beat everything. The press I most frequently work is a Lee Classic Cast SS. Bullet proof. Lee gets some things right, others not so much. I read about their latest presses and they sound good. But I've no real reason to change other than curiosity.

I'd probably have a go at a Loadmaster tho, just for the challenge and fun of getting it going well. Guess I wouldn't pay that much for the opportunity tho.

I have a four-hole Lee turret press. It auto indexes and I love it. But you have to size and prime the cases first. I expand. Use a Lee Auto Disc measure. A powder "cop". And a seater die.
