    Wads under Hollow base.

Hi all, long time no see...
I'm playing with a new to me .58 Antonio Zoli Zouave copy... Had one 20 years ago and it shot very well, but kept no data. Have 3 molds, Lyman, Rapine and a local Australian mold which was designed for the Enfield. All three are a tad small at .578, but shootable. Has anyone used a wad of any sort under a Hollow base projectile. I also use 1% Tin, and did do so 20 years ago.
As usual, all advice happyly accepted. MC.

Following because I have always wondered about black powder under a hollow base bullet with overpowder wads and lube discs. I do it, but wonder about it being a hollow over the compressed powder.

Suggestion: mix up some fine sawdust and white glue (think "Elmer's glue" or Titebond carpenter's glue. I'd bet you have a local equivalent Down Under). You want the mix to be pretty stiff, but formable. Press a wad of the mix in your hollow base projectile and shave off the excess, level with the bullet base. Allow to cure.
This solves the issue of the airspace over the powder charge and greatly facilitates the bullets expansion into the rifling.
