Just wondering if anyone has played with the Dwell time on the Corbin Hydraulic System
Just having some issues with core seating on some 30 caliber bulllets, just curious to see what others are doing
Thanks for your input

I don't have a Corbin Hydraulic press but built one about eight years ago that has more functions and features than the Corbin. For me core seating always came down to the type of case being used and pressure. Forgot to add punch seating depth is another factor that works hand in hand with pressure setting.
Some cases due to wall thickness just take more pressure to fully expand in the die. Dwell time on the down stroke probably will never fully expand the case if the pressure is not high enough. I usually never have a dwell time of more than 1-2/seconds. I have a digital pressure gauge, so I know exactly what is required for the specific caliber I'm core seating. Plus, all the information is recorded for future reference. My average cycle times are around 6.5-7.5/seconds per operation.
I experimented in the past with 45/Gap brass for making 50/AE rounds. Basically, due to the case construction, when trying to fully seat a core the case just separated. Very short wall and a heavy case head. Tried this case so I did not have to trim a 45/ACP case. Bottom line I had to trim the 45/ACP cases to get a good, finished nose point.
Any other questions let me know. My two cents from experience.
