Not sure if the post belongs here or in Black Powder Patching. ...a bit of a crossover.
Last checkoff in my bucket list is to load and shoot my dad's Sharps 45-120 ... he thought. Turned out it's a 45-110.
I tried a short cut and ordered 45-120 smokeless loads from a straight shooter supplier. ..cartridges were a bit long.
I've had some time to conjure a way to cut the cases down 3/8", and I came up with this. Sanding disc on my radial arm saw, case holder pushed up against a hammer tap adjustable hard stop. Sample of the deburred cases is 2.875 ave +- .005".
Good enough for the old Sharps. With a lighter hammer tap and a case trimmer, probably good enough for any fussy cast length.

Good catch, since the heat marks didn't show in the pic above. Most of the cases have a small area of silver-ish discoloration about 1/2 - 2/3 around the mouth. Thinking about giving them all a quick lick with a propane torch to even out the temper.
Most of the cases have the primer set, so I'll be ginger with the torch.

I use copper pipe cutter, the one plumbers use. Then trim to length.

Harbor Freight has an inexpensive little chop saw that works really well for things like this.

Yep, all quite workable methods, but the OP evidently had (a) a bench sander handy, and (b) a section of unutilized lumber available. I applaud his ingenuity!
