    Sabot loading

I picked up a 12 gauge rifled barrel shotgun. Searching the internet it looks like I need to shot sabot loads. I have not loaded for shotguns yet. Would the layman’s manual give me loads for sabots. Looks like the Lee load all 2 is the cheapest press will work for sabots. Thank Rrh

Yes, there is slug data in the Lyman shotshell manual for both the slugs they offer. The Lyman wasp waisted slug is supposed be more accurate than their Foster slug.
The Lee 7/8 ounce slug is more front heavy than their 1oz slug. They stuck on the core pin for me. I gave my Lee slug mold away and use 0.600” round balls in REX-24 wads now.

The Shotgun scientists on YouTube use a lee loader. It looks somewhat flimsy to me. I’m glad I bought the MEC loader.

Look around for a MEC 600jr, used ones are fairly inexpensive and you'll thank yourself later. I hold a very low opinion of the LEE Load-All. LEE makes some good stuff, but the Load-All ain't one of em. It'll load good safe ammunition, but the process of getting it is more frustration than I care to deal with. I bought one some years ago to supplement my MEC 600jr and ended up giving it away after loading a few shells, (but maybe I was spoiled by the MEC!).

thanks for the replies. I agree I most likely will be better served by a mec.

The MEC 600jr. isn't a speed demon for loading several hundred rounds a week for a league trap shooter, however for a hunter they're just the ticket.
