    But now it won't float!

Just kidding, I never tried to float test the one I had years ago. A barrel upgrade was sorely needed on the Charter Arms version I had.

Yes, details on the build along with closer pictures please.

Kinda defeats the purpose of the rifle doesn’t it? I mean an inexpensive takedown survival rifle ( I believe it was originally intended as an air force survival rifle but I don’t think it was ever adopted or issued). But who am I to rain on your parade. Your rifle you can do as you like with it.

nice - when Charter Arms was making them they also sold an accessory wood stock for them - i also had a collapsable metal stock for mine, that mimicked the Israeli issue one -

Ditto. Defeats the purpose and there are better .22s that cost less.

From what I can tell it's pretty neat. Sure it defeats the purpose, but you can always convert it back if you still have the parts.

It still makes for a fine take down rifle.

Had a Charter Arms version around 50 yrs ago came in handy when I went to my camp in Maine, only complaint if it go real dirty it would go full auto. First saw it in From Russi withr Love thought it was a prop not a real firrarm.

Mine never went full auto, but it also wasn't very accurate. I had two Colt .22 handguns that from a weaver stance would provide better groups at 25 yards than that particular Charter Arms AR-7.

Based on that one example; if you were good enough to stalk within the sure hit range of the gun, you were almost close enough to whack the rabbit or squirrel in the head with the gun.

I have had one of the Israeli/F4 seat survival then Bricklee modified/re-import NIB for decades, never shot it. I believe the original AR-7 to be a Mr. Stoner design when he was at Armalite. Through the decades and the different "owners" of the paper and specimens it is what it is. I think the Papoose here would be grabbed first, your gun, you enjoy every second of it how you wish! And nice work.

I have a Henry, but it is nothing to brag on. Especially with my "well-used" eyes, groups are nothing to be proud of. Just about any of my 22 pistols can equal or better the groups I get from it, but mine goes bang once each time I pull the trigger so far. If I could put a scope on it and still keep the take down feature of the firearm, I might be able to do better, but maybe not...

I seem to recall that I tried a scope on the one I had, B-Square made the mount I think. Totally defeated storing it in the stock, and I don't recall the accuracy being any better.

I do not regret letting that gun go, the two Colt's on the other hand...
