    WTB thread strikes gold

I posted a thread in the S&S forum - "WTB a Corbin Mega Mite or a hydraulic press." I did not really expect to find one that way, especially a hydraulic, but what-a-ya-know.

One member sold me a Corbin Mega Mite w/ heavy duty vertical stand, an early Corbin hydraulic press with heavy duty vertical stand, and a Corbin power cannelure tool. The top plates on the stands match the thickness of the base plates on the presses. The stands are massive, just like the presses. In addition I got all the original accessories that came with the machines PLUS a set of custom wheels for the power cannelure tool for 2 or 3 knurled cannelures or smooth cannelures PLUS a complete set of wire extruding dies PLUS a conversion kit for using RCE Walnut Hill dies on either press and a few other odds and ends. Seems like Christmas in Sept. It was a 13 hour round trip to pick it up (met in the middle) but it was well worth the trip and the price. Thanks ????? (you know who you are)

GROOT, SSG, FAST, Thanks. I am almost giddy about it. Wwwweeellllll ... Almost.

lup, yeah I really like the fact the I can use the Walnut Hill dies in the hydraulic press. I have never seen a WH adapter set "H" dies advertised or pictures even, until I saw this one. Will post pics later. Of course I have to keep an eye on the pressure setting, but I have to do that anyway. Easy to over pressure any dies with the hydraulic. I really like this hydraulic press. 3 simple electrical switches, a pressure gage, and a hand wheel pressure regulator. No servos, presssure limit switches, auto cutoffs, etc. to maintain and replace. Everything I need, and nothing I don't. One of the main reasons I wanted a hydraulic press is to be able to consistently repeat pressures and hold times to hopefully produce repeatable match grade accuracy.

ICH, I have been able to pick up some Dave Corbin H dies on the cheap in calibers that are not available new. I hoped to get a mega mite or hydraulic, but I never dreamed I could get both. That Mega Mite certainly looks stout. Very similar in size to a Walnut Hill, WH-50. Both are probably a little over built, but I like it like that.

    Rolltide999,
I have a MegaMite press and they are very stout, more so than I need at this point in my swaging adventure. I actually just bought all of Richard Corbin’s Sea Girt presses to set up a small time swaging venture. I have dies for the MegaMite that Richard made me years ago, but these are the first presses I have from him and they are NICE! It was your posts, on this site, that helped me make the decision, so….Thank You Sir! Congrats again, Steve

    Fastevo,
You will not be disappointed in RCE presses. Sounds like an exciting venture. That is what is great about this forum. People who actually use the equipment share info with each other. If any info I shared was helpful, you are most welcome. I have certainly benefited from many here through the years.
