So, I’ve loaded some old 38-55 brass with small neck cracks with jasmine rice, 2 grains of AA2, Remington 9-1/2M primer. I rolled a crimp on in a 6.8 seater die and used some craft paint for sealer. You can see how the cracks affected the crimp.
I’ve already sprayed that nest;so I’ll find another nest to test these on.
Fun stuff until one gets stung!

You may need more powder for those big cases. I had minimal cardboard penetration with 3gr of shotgun powder in the .444 cases. Just had good results with 3.5gr.

After work today I had 1 9mm rice load left. Wasp peeking out of the wellhouse eve. I shot him in the face and others swarmed. I retreated to load ammo.

3gr of shotgun powder in 2 .454 cases, 3.5gr in the big .444 cases.

Went out and 2 were peeking out. Blew them away with one .444 load.
I took down one more with the other .444 load then loaded the 2 Casull loads. I had one flying around, took a shot from 7ft away and it blew him 25ft in the air. I laughed so hard I almost fell over. Part of todays tally with 4 shots.

I found another good source for bug shot in Fastladies pantry. Uncooked quinoa. This stuff looks even better than the chia seeds. The seeds are larger than chia, hard, and almost perfectly round. Still easily half the size of bird seed though. And a plus side is that it's good tasting and good for you too. You bug blasters might want to try some.

I bet the wasps might argue with the "good for you" claim considering how it is served lol.

How heavy is it? Need a little more weight for it to carry farther.

Don't know how heavy it is. Should I weigh some for you?

I keep scratching my head trying to think of a shot material with a higher density than food, but less dense than lead. Softer than steel.

    Walnut hull tumbler media?
Hey! What about cutting fine stranded copper electrical wire into little bits? Got any sharp cutters?

Sure, that'd be nice. Can you do a volume of it I can duplicate? Like a full .38, .45 or 9mm case?

Already got some. I've used my spent well filter media KDF85 which is zinc and copper shavings. Problem is is sticks into wood. A good killer though, like mini Chinese throwing stars.

Walnut shell is lighter than rice per piece so doesn't carry. The cornmeal is too fine.

ETA: When I pushed the rice a little harder with 3.5gr powder in the big .444 cases, 3.0 in .454 it woke them up.

I can see the advantage of two loads. One for keeping the siding intact and another when not shooting at siding, or maybe still safe on longer range "prey".

I like the looks of the quinoa. I still have not used my Acini di Pepe loads on critters yet. Been too busy putting up firewood and we have very few wasps this year. Had the house and pole barn sprayed about a month ago for $150. The stuff is supposed to last 2 months so will be "on safari" soon enough.

Yeah, hoping the quinoa is a useful media. I have had several of the copper/zinc media loads on hand. I expended them the other day when I ended up on my back on the ground. Decided to go to war today and loaded all the .444s Barry so graciously sent me. I killed a few today but they are scared to engage realizing I am clearly unhinged. The red wax caps signify the KDF85 shavings in .454 cases. The payload ended up weighing 90grains.

So this is funny. My wasps have gone cowardly. I cannot get them to come out and battle me. I can see the sentry peeking out of the attic space. When I approach he ducks back in out of sight.

If I throw rocks at the eve they will NOT come out. The other day I could get them swarming doing this. If they come out now they blast out and straight up. Cowards!

Saturday I worked outside for the whole day. Messed around with the wasps who had taken up residence in the wellhouse ridge vent. I couldn't get close enough to them to kill them. Ended up loading some really nasty KDF85 loads with 4.2gr of TiteWad in .444 cases. I could reach a few up to 20ft but it was dangerous because they were on to me and would head straight at me when I stirred them up.

About dark I pulled out the big gun and took them all out. ATV sprayer and Bifentherin. It'll spray 30ft and easily reached them. No more wasps. It was fun messing with them but was getting dangerous.

years ago we used to make 38 round ball loads, they were cheap and fun to shoot
Speer had data in there manual for most pistol caliber round ball loads.

These were .440 round balls in .454 cases.128gr each so a pretty good payload.

How’d you get American cheese to hold the pair together so nicely?

I thought I was done for the summer. I was pressure washing my reloading bench frame near my wellhouse today and felt something brush my neck. Looked up and a half dozen wasps were buzzing me. I blasted them and more came pouring out of the wellhouse eve.

I fought them awhile and got the bifen spray after another one hit my hair. Luckily no stings.
